The Tense Recline

Say this to the subject
“Sit tall at first, then let your shoulders soften. Lean back in the chair but stay rigid, grip the armrests, and look directly at the camera. Keep your eyes direct and challenging.”

Photographer cue: Sit in the high-back chair and lean back against it, but do not relax. Keep your entire body rigid and tensed. Dig your fingers into the ends of the armrests as if holding on tight. Stiffen your neck and set your jaw firmly. Look directly into the camera lens with a challenging and unwavering gaze, projecting a sense of controlled power and tension.
